Montreal is one of the most romantic cities in Canada. But when it’s your first time visiting it, finding the perfect location to propose might be a struggle. I’ve lived in Montr\u00e9al almost my entire life and had the chance to photograph dozens of proposals and weddings in the area, here are some of my favorite proposal location ideas in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Montr\u00e9al is the perfect city for a romantic proposal. It has beautiful architecture, endless activities, and tons of great restaurants where to celebrate your engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Best wedding proposal location ideas in Montr\u00e9al, Qu\u00e9bec<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Quai de l’horloge in the Old-Port of Montr\u00e9al<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Quai de l’horloge<\/em> (in English: Clock Tower Quai) is a beautiful location in the Old Port of Montreal, overlooking the St. Lawrence River. It offers stunning views of the water and the surrounding architecture, making it a picturesque spot for a proposal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Montr\u00e9al’s Botanical Garden<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Montreal Botanical Garden is one of the city’s most beautiful and romantic places to propose. It’s home to an impressive collection of plants and gardens, each with its own unique beauty. The garden is a tranquil and peaceful oasis in the heart of the city, providing a serene setting for a proposal. The gardens offer a variety of settings, from the Chinese Garden to the Rose Garden, providing a range of options for a memorable proposal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Canal Lachine in the Old Port of Montr\u00e9al<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This place is a bit more off the beaten path but it’s one of my favorite proposal locations in Montr\u00e9al. The Canal Lachine offers a beautiful and peaceful view of the river (especially during sunset) which will make your proposal unforgettable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the streets – Old Port of Montr\u00e9al<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Old Port’s cobblestone streets are a great option for a more intimate proposal away from big crowds. Let me guide you to show you some of my favorite little hidden gems around the Old Port where to propose. Some of these locations aren’t as known by tourists so it’s the perfect spot for a more private proposal while still being able to enjoy all that the Old Port has to offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rue Saint-Amable – Old-Port of Montr\u00e9al<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With its jaw-dropping fairy lights (in the wintertime), this little street is ideal for a late afternoon\/ evening wedding proposal. The street is also popular amongst tourists so you might get some people cheering you on when I’ll be dropping on one knee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grand Quai – Old-Port of Montr\u00e9al<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Grand Quai is another location that will allow you to enjoy the view of the St Lawrence River but also downtown Montreal. It has, in my opinion, the best view you can get of Downtown Montr\u00e9al. This place is perfect for any afternoon\/ sunset proposals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a little cafe or restaurant – Anywhere in Montr\u00e9al<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Don’t want to be freezing outside during your proposal? You can always do it inside of the Old Port’s many intimate cozy cafes or restaurants. Sipping on hot chocolate and proposing to the love of your life right after, it doesn’t get any more romantic than that!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In front of the Notre Dame Basilica in the Old Port of Montr\u00e9al<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Notre-Dame Basilica is one of the most iconic and beautiful churches in Montreal. Proposing in front of this historical monument will make your proposal unforgettable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking for one of the best belvederes in the city for your marriage proposal? Mount Royal with its Belv\u00e9d\u00e8re Kondiaronk is definitely the spot to go. This location will offer you an amazing view of downtown Montr\u00e9al and is perfect for an early morning proposal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Proposing in Montr\u00e9al doesn’t have to be hard, I’ve put together a list of things you should take into account when choosing the location for your marriage proposal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What kind of places do you both like exploring together on a regular basis?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

When looking for a proposal location try to think about what kind of places you both already like visiting together. Do you like taking long walks by the water? Do you like exploring the urban landscapes of the city? Do you like enjoying a quiet evening at a good restaurant? Do you prefer chilling at home and watching movies?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Try to incorporate personal things about your relationship in the proposal, it will make it more memorable and unforgettable!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How private do you want your proposal?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Would you feel comfortable proposing in from of a big crowd? It’s super important to think about how private you want your proposal to be when choosing where to propose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you want to propose a more tourist location that’s usually really crowded?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stay open to the possibilities of maybe proposing at times when those spots get less foot traffic early in the morning or during the weekdays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
