Last July, I had the opportunity to work with Anastasia, a wedding proposal planner at The I Do Club, to capture Kyler and Tania’s surprise proposal in Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Montérégie.
For the occasion, Anastasia orchestrated the perfect scenario for Kyler to have an unforgettable wine tasting experience with his girlfriend and then propose to her at an Airbnb he had rented for the event.
Kyler being a photographer himself, wanted to have the whole day documented, and not only his proposal, but it had to be done in a way that Tania would not suspect anything.

Wine tasting at Vignoble Les Murmures in Mont-Saint-Hilaire
The day started at the beautiful Vignoble Les Murmures in the town of Saint-Jean-Baptiste near Mont-Saint-Hilaire. Kyler had told his girlfriend that he had managed to get a deal on Groupon for an exclusive wine tasting experience at the winery.
Near the end of their tasting, I arrived on site, and instead of hiding in a bush and taking pictures in secret (as I usually do during wedding proposals) with the planner and the owner of the vineyard we agreed to pretend I was a professional photographer who was coming to take pictures of the property for the promotion of Vignoble Les Murmures.
So I played along and the owner even introduced me to the couple and asked them if they would mind if I took a few pictures of them as well to post on the winery’s website. Tania was happy to tell me that they have no issue being photographed even that her boyfriend was a photographer himself. She had no idea!
Surprise marriage proposal on the dock in front of Mont Saint-Hilaire
After their visit to the vineyards, the two lovers arrived at their Airbnb and Kyler blindfolded Tania and told her that he had a surprise for her on the dock. He then took his time to help her down the steps and brought her to this beautiful private dock overlooking Mont Saint-Hilaire.
On-site, Anastasia from The I Do Club had arranged lanterns, pillows, and decorations for their proposal before their arrival.
Once on the dock, Kyler quickly removed the blindfold from Tania’s eyes and got down on one knee to ask her to marry him. She was so surprised and happy, she couldn’t stop smiling, she just couldn’t believe it!
I later came out of the bushes and we celebrated their engagement with a bottle of champagne and some couple photos on the waterfront.
