Why Have Your Elopement or Intimate Wedding in Mont-Tremblant?

Wondering what makes Mont-Tremblant so special, and why I’ve dedicated an entire guide to weddings there? Find out below, with these 7 reasons I recommend Mont-Tremblant as your Québec elopement or intimate wedding destination.

  • Proximity to Montréal
Mont-Tremblant is just an hour and a half from Montréal (approximately 130 km, or 80 miles), so it is easy to access if you live or are staying in the city. By driving for only 2 hours, you can experience the vibrant energy of Montréal’s city life, as well as the peaceful, picturesque alpine landscapes of Mont-Tremblant.
  • Anglophone-friendly
Mont-Tremblant is a very anglophone-friendly town, so if English is your first language, you won’t have trouble getting around the area. Most spots in the village as well as the ski resort are easily accessible to English-speakers, often with bilingual staff, signs, and services.
  • Year-round activities
Even though Mont-Tremblant’s weather can be a bit unpredictable, there are fun activities to do in any season! I will talk more about activities and seasonal opportunities later in this guide, so there is more to come.
  • Fall foliage viewing
Speaking of seasons, Mont-Tremblant is one of the province’s best areas to watch the fall colors come to life. These colors typically peak from late September through mid-October, and you can experience them by hiking, riding a gondola up the mountain, visiting fall festivals, or taking scenic helicopter rides!

Logistics of Planning Your Mont-Tremblant Wedding

Before sharing with you all the fun activities, beautiful landscapes, and quaint lodging that Tremblant has to offer, I also wanted to equip you with proper expectations and logistical knowledge about the area, to ensure you go into your day fully prepared.

How do we travel to Mont-Tremblant for our wedding?

You will want to fly into Montréal’s YUL airport and rent a car, as driving will be the best way to access Mont-Tremblant for your elopement. Make sure you arrive at Mont-Tremblant at least a day in advance of your elopement to give yourselves enough time for the short road trip, and to settle down in your accommodation before the festivities begin!

Can we have our wedding outdoors in Tremblant?

Yes, and in fact, I recommend it! Tremblant is so full of breathtaking outdoor landscapes that it would be a shame to miss out on exploring them, especially on a day as momentous as your wedding. However, keep in mind that Tremblant is a national treasure. If you are adventuring outdoors, make sure to be respectful to others and come prepared to Leave No Trace. I’ll be happy to guide you with this, as I am a certified Leave No Trace photographer to help protect the beautiful natural spaces we are lucky to have in Tremblant (and all of Québec).

Helping you find an intimate outdoor location for your wedding ceremony

As an intimate wedding photographer and expert I can share with you stunning locations around Mont-Tremblant and throughout Québec where to have your ceremony intimatly away from big crowds of tourists/ hikers.

Can we invite guests to our wedding in Tremblant?

Absolutely, this day is for the two of you to celebrate your relationship in the way that feels right for you, whether that means you say your vows just the two of you or you invite loved ones. If you are planning to invite guests, you’ll need to make sure you find a location that allows for guests and has enough space for your group, especially if you are getting married outdoors. Hotels and private villas can be great for this, offering enough room to host larger parties and often doubling as accommodations for everyone, as well.

If you’re leaning toward a private celebration, I have a whole guide dedicated to How to Have a Wedding Without Guests in Québec for you to read next.

Can I bring my pet to my intimate wedding in Tremblant?

Yes, many cabins and outdoor ceremony locations allow you to bring dogs—as long as you follow proper guidelines for cleaning up after them, keeping them on a leash where required, and making sure they do not disturb other people around you. Especially if you are checking out a trail, or visiting a popular outdoor destination where there will likely be crowds or other hikers!

Do we need a permit for our elopement or wedding in Tremblant?

It depends on where you are getting married. Some locations might require permits or entrance fees for you and your guests. As a Tremblant wedding expert, I will be by your side to help you navigate permit processes with confidence, should the need arise!

How long should we stay in Tremblant for our wedding?

I recommend you book a cabin in the area for at least 2 nights, to give yourselves time to settle in after you arrive, and time to explore this beautiful region without feeling rushed. Just wait until you see how many amazing activities and adventures Tremblant has to offer; you will never want to leave!

Expert Tip: It also never hurts to have a backup day set aside just in case we have to change our plans due to the weather or other unexpected circumstances. Trust me, it is much better (and more relaxing) to have extra time in your schedule than not have enough!

What Landscapes Can You Expect for Your Mont-Tremblant Wedding?

Mont-Tremblant is one of the most spectacular towns in the Laurentians region, full of an endless variety of landscapes that belong on a postcard. From mountain tops to waterfalls, lakeside beaches to immersive pine tree forests, winding rivers to pristine lakes… you can truly find any type of landscape that speaks to you, if you know where to look for it.

Here are a few tips for choosing a location for your intimate Mont-Tremblant wedding:

  • Landscapes: Start by narrowing down the type of landscape you are looking for; I recommend choosing a landscape that inspires you, brings you peace, and/or holds significance to your relationship. You may feel more at home in the mountains, or the lush rainforest might bring you more joy. Maybe you got engaged on a beach, and you want to re-live that seaside magic on your special day. Pick a place you’ll be able to feel present and fully enjoy this day.
  • Season/time of year: I will dive into this further in the next section of this guide, because it is one of the most important elements of choosing your Tremblant elopement location. We have very different seasons throughout the year, so consider what type of location would best showcase the seasonal elements. Or, pick a location first—then pick the season that highlights the location’s beauty the best.
  • Travel: Consider not only how scenic a location is, but how far you are willing to travel to get there. The further away you get from big cities, the fewer crowds you will find—and the more likely you are to enjoy a more private, intimate spot. If you’re inviting guests, also think about how far they are willing (and able) to travel for your ceremony.

As your elopement photographer, I provide in-depth location research and suggestions to help you find the perfect intimate ceremony spot, including amazing hidden gems across Tremblant that you can’t find through a simple Google search.

And don’t worry if you select a location you’ve never been to—I will visit your chosen ceremony location myself before the big day to avoid any surprises!

When is the Best Time to Get Married in Mont-Tremblant?

Truthfully, Mont-Tremblant is a beautiful place to get married all year round. We have cold, snowy winters, mild spring and fall months, and gorgeous summer weather (though it often doesn’t last for long). While you can elope in Tremblant in any season, keep in mind that mid-May to the end of June is mosquito season, and you might need to pack generous amounts of bug spray.

If I had to pick a favourite… fall is easily one of the best times to get married anywhere in Québec, thanks to the vibrant foliage that people travel from all over to admire. In fact, fall elopements and weddings are so popular here that I wrote a detailed guide to the Best Places to Elope in Québec for Peak Fall Colors! In this guide, you’ll learn not only about my favourite locations to see the foliage, but also how to time your elopement properly to get the peak colors you dream of.

No matter when you choose to have your wedding in Tremblant, remember that the conditions can be a bit unpredictable due to its location in the mountains. Make sure to closely monitor the weather forecast beforehand, pack appropriately for sudden temperature changes or unexpected rain, and arrive mentally prepared for anything.

6 Activity Ideas for Your Mont-Tremblant Wedding

Since you’ll (hopefully) be in Mont-Tremblant for at least 2-3 days, it’s important to find some fun activities to add to your itinerary! There are many ways to explore this picturesque region, no matter what level of adventure you are looking for, and no matter what type of scenery you’d like to admire. Below are 6 activities for your Tremblant wedding that would be amazing to experience together, or with any guests you invite.

1. Hiking

Mont-Tremblant’s national park, Parc national du Mont-Tremblant, offers great hikes with beautiful views all around. If you are looking into doing a hiking elopement, however, I have other hike recommendations with equally incredible mountain views—without the crowds of the national park.

2. Helicopter ride

If you’re dreaming of getting married on a mountain without having to hike it, or would like to venture to a more remote location inaccessible by foot, consider arriving via helicopter. Héli-Tremblant, the local helicopter company, offers packages with a quick pit stop on a mountain top in Tremblant, where you can have your ceremony among some of the most spectacular views imaginable.

3. Via ferrata or ziplining

If you’re into rock climbing, you have to experience the jaw-dropping via ferrata of the Mont-Tremblant National Park overlooking the meandering Diable River. If you’d prefer a little more speed, try out the Ziptrek Ecotours Zipline Tours for a thrilling ride on the longest ziplines in Québec.

4. Skiing

Mont-Tremblant has a renowned ski resort with some of the most incredible slopes in Québec, so if you are winter sport fanatics, you can’t miss this. In addition to unforgettable skiing and snowboarding opportunities, the resort also offers experiences through all four seasons including panoramic gondola rides to the summit of Tremblant, access to snowshoeing and alpine touring trails, and golfing in the summer months. It truly has something for everyone.

5. Kayaking or paddleboarding

Mont-Tremblant has over 400 lakes and 6 rivers, which make it ideal for going for a swim, kayaking, or paddleboarding with your partner on your wedding day. One of the most beautiful rivers in Québec, the Diable River, known for its scenic, meandering path through coniferous forests, sandy banks, and rocky cliffs, is a popular spot for canoeing, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding.

6. Stargazing

Is there anything more magical than looking up at a sky full of glittering stars on the evening of your wedding? Lucky for you, Mont-Tremblant National Park is Québec’s very first International Dark Sky Park in the province—meaning it is a protected area recognized for its amazing night skies due to a lack of light pollution, and well-preserved nighttime environment. Mont-Tremblant National Park is by far the most beautiful area to admire the Milky Way with the naked eye, so consider staying in the park until dark after you hike one of the scenic trails… or coming back later in the evening to enjoy the skies after sunset.
