Small intimate winter wedding at home in the Eastern Townships
Jessica and Terry have been wanting to get married for a few years now. At first, they even considered having a more traditional big wedding. The COVID pandemic was continuously changing their plans, making it difficult to plan and execute their original wedding vision. In the midst of everything, the couple came to the realization that after all, they were ready to get married and that nothing was more important than celebrating their relationship together. So they opted for a small, intimate winter wedding with a few close family members inside their stunning ancestral home in the Eastern Townships or Québec.
« Mirona captured our small COVID wedding wonderfully. She was pleasant to work with from the beginning and we really appreciated her professionalism the day of the wedding. »

Getting ready in their ancestral home in the Eastern Townships
When I got there, their family members were helping Terry tie his boutonniere and moments later Jessica came downstairs to join us for a drink with them before the wedding began. This moment was exactly what set the table for the rest of the day; a warm, intimate, down-to-earth wedding.
A day to focus on what was most important to them: celebrating their relationship surrounded by the people who matter most to them.
It’s not every day that you see a bride and groom together so naturally moments before their ceremony. The important thing for Jessica and Terry was to be well surrounded for their intimate wedding.
Before starting the ceremony, I took advantage of the sunset light to take a few pictures of the couple outside and some portraits with their guests. The snowy driveway in front of the house was the perfect magical place for it.
“She made us feel comfortable and removed the pressure of posing, just letting us be ourselves.”

Their small living room wedding ceremony
We then headed inside their ancestral home to warm up. In the living room where the bride and groom had decided to host their intimate wedding ceremony, Terry was busy getting the fireplace ready, which he affectionately referred to as his “wedding fire.”
Even though the wedding was intimate, the bride and groom worked with Le Coeur Bohème, a wedding planning company that takes care of the planning and styling so that they can enjoy their day.
A few minutes before the ceremony began, the bride and groom parted ways to center themselves and finalize the writing of their wedding vows.
Together they walked hand in hand through their home to the fireplace where Robert, the professional wedding officiant from Marriage à Bras Ouverts, was waiting for them.
It was in a warm, emotional, and family-centered atmosphere that the couple exchanged their wedding vows. The ceremony went smoothly and ended with a very special touch; Jessica and Terry placed their vows in a box containing a bottle of wine. On their 5th wedding anniversary, they will open the sealed box to read their vows again while enjoying a bottle of wine together.
Afterward, their children, who were their legal witnesses, signed their marriage license to seal their union.
Small and intimate wedding reception at home
When asked how to plan an intimate wedding, I always ask my couples the same question: how do you enjoy spending your time together? In Jessica and Terry’s case, they enjoy entertaining, cooking, and sharing a good meal with their loved ones.
With this in mind, the newlyweds headed to the kitchen to have a drink with their guests. Around the kitchen island, they talked, they laughed, and they had stars in their eyes. The guests then sat down at the beautiful table decorated with flowers from Grenadine Atelier.
In order to spend more time with their guests, the couple hired a caterer from the Eastern Townships for the evening. Jessica was at the stove heating the food and serving her guests… in her wedding dress! The photos really show how perfect this intimate “à la bonne franquette” wedding was for them.
The candlelight dinner was held in the same light and warm atmosphere as the ceremony. Laughter and happiness were in the air throughout the evening.
“We love the photos she got – so many candid pictures that show the real essence of our day.”

It was a memorable New Year’s Eve that the guests, the newlyweds, and I will remember for years to come!
We got our preview pics so quickly and a wonderful gallery of all the pictures after the wedding which we are happy to share with all our friends and family who couldn’t be there with us. We highly recommend Mirona.
